Gas leaks #
If you suspect a gas leak or carbon monoxide emission, open all windows and doors and vacate the property.
- do NOT smoke
- do NOT use electric switches or devices
- call Transco on +44 800 111 999 immediately.
Electricity power cuts #
In the event of a power cut:
- do NOT use your shower or flush macerator toilets. Doing so will cause blockages and flood the house.
- check whether neighbours also have power loss.
- if only your property is affected, check the fuse box circuit breakers. You may be able to reset any tripped switches.
- if power loss continues, call Western Power Distribution on +44 800 365 900.
Do NOT attempt electrical maintenance.
Water leaks and burst pipes #
For leaks on the property:
- Turn off the main stopcock. Its location is shown on your house plan and it can usually be found under the kitchen sink or outside under the pavement next to the water meter.
- Turn off the central heating.

For major leaks or flooding, call South West Water on +44 344 346 2020.
