Noise #

The most common problem is noise, especially in terraced properties:

• Be careful when positioning televisions and speakers. Try to avoid party walls.
• Keep noise levels low, especially after 11pm.
• Inform your neighbours about parties and ask people to be quiet when leaving.
• Be considerate when returning at night. Do not talk loudly, bang car doors, play loud music, etc.

You may be committing a criminal offence by causing noise problems in your home or on the street.

Resolution procedures #

Most anti-social behaviour is dealt with between the owner and the occupants.

A letter is sent to occupants when complaints are raised by one or more residents. If the anti-social behaviour continues:

1. the owner may contact the University, guarantors, and the police
2. you will have broken the terms of your contract and legal action will be taken.
